Is Dyslexia a Disability?

The Equality Act 2010 says it is (and 10% of the population suffer with it).  This means all employers have a legal duty to ensure that any employees suffering with Dyslexia are offered reasonable adjustments or support.

It's not as onerous as it sounds.  Small changes can make big differences, such as using a specialist font - Open Dyslexic is a free font that can be downloaded and fun on Microsoft software.  Changing the background colour of the computer screen can also help (many dyslexics are affected by colour).  A diagnostic assessment would give a clear picture of the severity of an individual's dyslexia and will highlight any areas that need addressing.
